Mean Bird will be serving up berry-inspired brunch from 12-3pm!
It's time to celebrate the bounty of Virginia cider with our annual spring festival! Last year, we honored hops; this year, we will focus on berry ciders!
Virginia Cider Jam opens with brunch from 12-3pm, featuring a Classical Revolution RVA clarinet quartet (1-2pm) and berry-inspired eats from Mean Bird (12-3pm).
All day long, we'll offer two flights featuring eight berry-infused ciders and six guest cideries, including...
Big Fish Cider, Co. - Church Hill Blush (Raspberry)
Courthouse Creek Cider - Bella Vita (Ginger & Raspberry)
Hinson Ford Cider & Mead - TBA
Mt. Defiance Cidery and Distillery - Blush (Blueberry)
Old Hill Cider - Virginia Strawberry
Wild Hare Hard Cider - Willow (Blackberry, Raspberry, Lime Peel)
Additional live music provided by The Midnight Ukulele Society (2:30-4pm) and Wkndr (4:30-6:30pm).
Capt. Rob's Pigalicious BBQ will be on site serving up fresh barbecue and more, and Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches will bless us with an array of crafted treats, including a collaborative ice cream sandwich made with our Mill Race Bramble (Virginia's original berry-infused cider)!
As a special treat, we will also tap a single keg of Fanfare, our wild mulberry cider. This cider has not been produced in three years due to late spring freezes, but we have just enough mulberries from the 2017 harvest to create this small batch.
More details to follow, including info on our limited Grand Tasting workshops!

Mean Bird is back at Hardywood for more bird brunch! Come grab some food to take back home or to help you brave the beer lines---Hardywood is releasing their Foolery AND Bourbon Barrel Cru starting at noon.
You guys know the drill-- our brunch menu will pair our craft Fried Chicken & Veggie Bird with some brunch essentials like waffles and biscuits.
The truck will be at Hardywood starting at 10am-3pm (or until we run out of brunch, whichever comes first)!
Here's a description of the beers from Hardywood:
Imperial Milk Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels
Foolery is a huge Imperial Stout aged for eight months in bourbon barrels. Massive chocolate, vanilla, and caramel flavors are preceded by aromatic hints of dark cherry, tobacco, leather and oak. Thick and rich, Foolery brings rounded bourbon character contributions from the barrels and a nice warming finish.
Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru
Abbey-style Quadrupel Aged in Bourbon Barrels
Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru is brewed in the fashion of the abbey quadrupel, the grand cru of many of Belgium’s revered monastic breweries. Bourbon Cru displays a sunset orange hue with a substantial head and brilliant clarity after months of barrel aging. The maturity and melding of flavors brought on by the freshly drained bourbon barrels lends an extraordinary sense of harmony to Bourbon Barrel Cru. Almond toffee and oaky vanilla aromatics give way to dark cherries, raisins and mature whiskey. A bit of plum flavor is greeted by caramel overtones and an assertive yet incredibly rounded body and a lingering, bourbon-laced finish.
